ULTRA TREK - 19/22 September - Gran Tour de Gardena
Total length 60km - elevation gain +2000m - Medium High difficulty.
A 4-day tour, challenging due to the distance and the technical high mountain sections.
We will cross all the mountain ranges touched by Val Gardena. Passing over the slopes of Seceda, the ridges of the Odle, the summit of Piz Boè at 3152m up to the splits between Sasso Lungo and Sasso Piatto.
Outline program:
Day 1: meeting in the morning at 8:00 am in Ortisei, briefing and equipment check. Departure at 9:00 am for the hike which covers a distance of 15km and about 600m of elevation gain. Night and dinner in a mountain hut at 2470m.
Day 2: After breakfast at the hut, we will move along the Gardenaccia for our second stage. Distance 14km and elevation gain 900m. Technical route with some exposed sections before reaching our hut at 2870m.
Day 3: from the hut we will take a little-frequented trail to reach the summit of Piz Boè at 3152m. We will descend into the valley through the coral atolls of the Dolomites for the last night in a hut at 2253m.
Day 4: From the hut, a fabulous walk awaits us on the largest plateau in Europe until we reach our destination, where a beer with friends will not be missing to celebrate the great crossing.
What to expect:
The nature of the route is very varied, it presents obstacles for those who suffer from vertigo, and is demanding both for the duration and for the technical level of the trekking.
Some difficult ascents and descents as well as sections with metal cables and overhangs require a steady and sure foot.
The Guide will be by your side for every section to always keep you safe.
The route is suitable for anyone with good walking training.
Minors allowed if accompanied and aged 16 or older.
Dogs not allowed.
Mandatory equipment:
- boots with rainproof membrane
- technical backpack with adequate capacity and rain cover
- rain jacket
- windbreaker jacket
- 1.5L or more depending on your hydration needs of thirst-quenching liquids
- at least 3 snacks like Mars and 3 carbohydrate bars
- packed lunch for the first day
- headlamp
- sleeping bag liner for hut
- layered clothing suitable for the season
- sunglasses and hat
- sunscreen
Trekking poles recommended.
Guide AMM accompaniment fee Veneto Alpine Guides Association 200 euros.
Participants: Minimum 4 - Maximum 6
Nights in huts and meals are not included in the fee. (about 80/90 euros half board for non-CAI members)
A 50% advance deposit is required.
Payment method: Paypal, Satispay or bank transfer.
Full payment on the morning before the hike.
The hike is reasonably held in all weather conditions.
The fee is fully refunded only in case of guide's indisposition or environmental conditions that compromise the safety of the group.
